Indigenous Business and Human Rights Program (IBHRP)
Mission: Emerging from the lessons of the Indigenous Human Rights Defenders and Corporate Accountability Program (IHRDCAP), the newly formed Indigenous Business and Human Rights Program(IBHRP) acts to empower Indigenous human rights defenders and allies in creating Indigenous-led human rights legal education and practice that can defend human rights and fundamental freedoms from state and non-state actors to transform the nature and understanding of international law, finance, and economics.
Program Objective: Emerging from a critical legal studies, decolonization, and cultures of resistance, the Indigenous Business and Human Rights Program (IBHRP) objective is to train, support, and provide education to Indigenous human rights defenders, law students, and new attorneys, to become competent in providing human rights oriented legal services and legal support to Indigenous peoples, Tribal governments, and other communities regarding non-state actors, business, and human rights.
